The Wisconsin Police Explorer Academy was created by Peter Jenkins. At the time Mr. Jenkins was a a sworn deputy and advisor for the Milwaukee County Sheriff Explorer Post. His vision was to create a training environment to prepare explorer posts for attending the national explorer competition. The academy is held every other year. The first academy was held in the summer of 2003 at Volk Field. At that time the academy was only three days long.  However the academy has grown to be the premier explorer training event in Wisconsin. Since 2003 there has been significant growth in attendance and the amount of training.

The next academy will be the 8th Wisconsin Explorer Academy.  July 31-August4, 2017.
